60 Things I Learned By 60

Well I woke up and wondered how I am already 60 years old. Some days I feel 20 and other days I feel 80. Guess that is life. But as I reflect back on the years, I wanted to write down some of the 60 (plus) things I have learned:

  1. Always see the beauty in others.
  2. Travel brings light to your soul.
  3. Love unconditionally even if you get hurt.
  4. Allow people to be themselves; don’t try to change them.
  5. Always follow your passion; don’t be forced into anything.
  6. Live from your heart and not your head.
  7. Don’t be afraid of death otherwise you will avoid living.
  8. Being right instead of forgiving isn’t worth it.
  9. Don’t let your ego stop you from asking for help.
  10. Never use almond milk to make pudding it won’t thicken.
  11. Don’t forget to B R E A T H E.
  12. Always let your emotions have a voice; don’t bury them.
  13. Music is the ultimate healer.
  14. Don’t try to impress others; they are too caught up in their own lives.
  15. Always put yourself first; no one else will.
  16. Forgive and move on.
  17. Accept change; don’t fight it.
  18. Learn to let go; you can’t control everything.
  19. Always take the stairs.
  20. Never be afraid to take risks.
  21. Always give your intuition the time of day.
  22. Failure is healthy.
  23. Don’t hold grudges.
  24. Be open to change.
  25. Plan for the future; if not for yourself then for your children.
  26. Don’t take things personally.
  27. Talk about difficult topics especially, loss, grief and death.
  28. Integrity is the cornerstone to living.
  29. Step out of your comfort zone as much as possible.
  30. Cherish every moment with family and friends.
  31. Don’t be hard on yourself.
  32. Always say THANK YOU.
  33. Treat others with kindness and respect.
  34. Don’t make your kids eat Brussel Sprouts or Lima Beans.
  35. Never lose hope.
  36. You cannot make someone love you.
  37. Invest in yourself.
  38. Worry is never worth the effort.
  39. Family first. Always. All ways.
  40. Never give with strings attached; that isn’t giving.
  41. Find ways to LAUGH.
  42. Change is always possible.
  43. Take lots of photos especially of your kids.
  44. Make your health a priority.
  45. Take care of your parents; they took care of you.
  46. Don’t let anyone die alone.
  47. Strive to be compassionate in all you do but don’t burn yourself out.
  48. No job is worth killing yourself over.
  49. Spend time with your Grandparents to learn all you can about them.
  50. Get up with the sunrise.
  51. Stop to watch the sunset.
  52. Karma always comes around so be patient.
  53. Talk to the Angels; they really listen.
  54. Chick Fil A has the best chocolate shakes.
  55. Don’t live in the past or drag it with you into the future.
  56. Stop and look at the clouds; you’ll be surprised what you see.
  57. Lessons are repeated until we learn them.
  58. The other side is closer than we think.
  59. Drink RED wine.
  60. Family doesn’t mean someone is related by blood.
  61. Our loved ones always give us winks.
  62. Nachos and margaritas are the ultimate dinner.
  63. Listen to your body.
  64. Just be happy.
  65. Live.
